Arting About | Keeping Up with Nathan
What I’ve been Arting About
It’s been an interesting summer.
From my NC500 trip around Scotland, to the Urban Sketching Symposium, having an operation and then being unable to work for a while, there’s been quite a lot going on.
Being forced to take a bit of time out from the usual work has actually given me the opportunity to concentrate on something I’ve been building for a while — Arting About.
I’ve used the time to get ahead with YouTube, work on collaborations, set up Arting About | Sketch Sessions with Nathan, create a new website, and now, apparently, start a newsletter!
But more than that, I’m trying to build a community around Arting About — not just people who watch the videos, but people I can actually keep in touch with, share things with, and hopefully create something alongside.
So, this “blog” is another little part of that.
I’ll be sharing what I’ve been sketching and painting, what I’m working on, things happening with the channel, upcoming projects, and all the other bits and pieces that don’t necessarily make it into a YouTube video.
So, after a rather unexpected summer, here we are.
Welcome to Arting About | Keeping Up with Nathan.
Arting About Lately
It’s been a busy few months on the sketching front.
I’ve been to several urban sketching meet-ups, including finally becoming a member of Urban Sketchers Barcelona. We headed to the Jardins de la Tamarita, which gave me a great opportunity to get the sketchbook out, spend some time drawing on location, and meet other members of the USk community here in Barcelona.
I’ve also been meeting up with a smaller group called Dibujo Barcelona, where we recently sketched around Plaça de Sant Lu.
It’s been really nice getting out and sketching with other people. As much as I enjoy sitting down with a sketchbook on my own, there’s something rather enjoyable about standing around with a group of people who are all quietly drawing the same place.
I’ve also been doing some collaborations with ShinHan Art, Fuumuui, and Lightwish, field-testing their products in real urban sketching situations rather than simply sitting at a desk and doing a collection of swatches, which has been great fun.
I’ve got a couple more collaborations in the pipeline too, so there should be plenty more to come on that front — so keep your eyes peeled!
A Look in My Sketchbook
A few things I've been sketching over the summer...
Clachtoll Beach and Ardvreck Castle, Scottish Highlands - NC500
Basilique Sant- Sernin, Toulouse - USk Symposium 2026
Plaça de Sant Lu, Barcelona - Dubujo Barcelona
Thanks for stopping by and catching up with me. It’s been a busy few months, and there’s plenty more in the works, so I hope you’ll stick around and see what happens next.
Until next time,
Bye.
